
Winter solstice marks the first day of winter. Solstice means standing still sun and as the light decreased it was believed that the light would never return again. The burning of the Yule log may have begun during this time of the winter solstice to honor the sun or to help the sun regain it's brightness and power.

History of the Black Christmas Tree. Actually there isn't much history to record. The black Christmas tree is an artificial Christmas tree introduced to the market in 2005, evidently as a counter to the white Christmas tree and to set a new style in articifical Christmas trees.
