Today we celebrate not only Valentine's Day but another very important day... National Pet Theft Awareness. As many as two million pets are stolen each year and only 10% are ever recovered. Many are sold to medical research and others endure unthinkable conditions. Have a heart this year and protect your pet this Valentine's Day.

The week of February 13 - 19, 2012 is Random Acts of Kindness Week. A random act of kindness is a selfless act performed by a person or people wishing to either assist or cheer up an individual person or people. I can tell you from personal experience that performing a selfless act of kindness for a total stranger brings you as much joy as it gives to the stranger. I have been doing this for several years now - just whenever the situation is suitable.

Maybe it's the weather but for some reason it seems as if all I have been doing is drawing more new clip art. Don't get me wrong, I love creating art of any kind. When I am in the "groove" I may as well accept the fact that I will be creating art because that is all that is on my mind!

February 2, 2012 is Groundhog Day. According to folklore, if the groundhog emerges from hibernation and does not see his shadow, he will leave his burrow. This signifies that the end of winter is near. On the other hand, if the groundhog does see his shadow, he will retreat back into his burrow and winter will continue for at least another six weeks.

Keep your eye out for Punxsutawney Phil, he has been making predictions since 1887 and will let us know if an early spring is in the forecast!
