Definition: A splash page has no useful purpose other than to provide a door, or entrance, to a home page, welcome page, or the index page of a Web site. Splash pages are normally very artistic and graphically intense, and many splash pages use up-to-date technology and programming, such as flash, JavaScript, etc. to create a visually exciting page.
Some artistic splash pages do not have a text entrance on the splash page so visitors with older browser versions may not be able to enter their Web site.
Tip: Always provide alternative text link site navigation when using mouseovers, JavaScript menus, flash, etc.
