| Create Simple Dividers | |||||||||
| Create clip art of simple dividers (or lines or linebars) using rectangles and colors that you may use on Web pages or for other projects. | |||||||||
Dividers can be used to call divide and seperate content on your Web pages.
What you need to know before creating a divider.
You will need a paint program or graphics program that will allow you to draw regtangles and to fill the rectangles with a color. If you want to add a drop shadow or turn the bullet background transparent you will also need a graphics program that has the option to add a shadow and to transparent backgrounds, as well as the knowledge on how to use these options.
1. Choose the rectangle tool and draw a long skinny rectangle.
2. Choose dark blue and fill the rectangle with the dark blue color.
3. Use the Create a Bullet tutorial to create a light or medium colored blue bullet. You will need the option to "select" the bullet you just highlighted. After you select it, choose black for your shadow color, and use the drop shadow option to add the shadow. Add the blue bullet to the end of your dark blue bar. Note: Now is the time to turn the background transparent if you choose to and if you have this option. Copy your divider as a new image, and use your transparent feature to turn the background transparent. If your graphics or paint program has the capability of adding a drop shadow, then add a drop shadow to the divider you just created.
Your created dividers may be used on any white Web page background or used on any desktop publishing project that uses white paper. If you had the option to transparent the divider background (the one without the drop shadow) your transparent divider may be used on any colored Web page background. Be creative and make more dividers in various sizes and colors. For example you could add your medium sized blue bullet to the each end of your divider to create a new look. You also might try adding the small bullet multiple times to create a design such as the one below.
