| Create a simple city scene and a city night scene, or a group of buildings, using rectangles, squares, ovals, and colors. | |||||||||
What you need to know before creating city scenes.
You will need a paint program or graphics program that will allow you to draw rectangles, squares, and ovals. You will also need to be able to fill the rectangles, squares, and ovals with colors. If you want to add a drop shadow or turn the city scene background transparent you will need a graphics program that has the option to add a shadow and to transparent backgrounds, as well as the knowledge on how to use these options in your paint or graphics software program.
1. Choose the the rectangle and black color. Draw a rectangle.
2. Use the rectangle or the square option to draw windows and a door.
3. Add a thin rectangle (a smokestack) to the top of the building.
4. Using the rectangle tool, add a smaller, thinner rectangle next to the first building. Use the rectangle or the square to add windows to the second building.
5. Again, use the rectangle to draw a taller rectangle. Add windows and a door using the rectangle or square tool. 6. Add a square to the top of this building to represent a billboard or a cooling system.
7. Use the rectangle tool to draw a slightly shorter building. Add windows and a door.
8. Use the rectangle tool to add your tallest building next. Add windows and a door. 9. Use the rectangle tool to draw a very, very thin rectangle on top of this building. 10. Use the oval tool to draw a small oval on top of the thin pole.
10. Use the rectangle tool to add your last building. Use the square or the rectangle to add windows and doors. 11. Add a smokestack and a rectangle to the top of this building.
Use the fill tool (the paint bucket) and various colors to paint your building, windows, doors, and smokestacks, etc. 12. Paint or fill all smokestacks in with black color.
13. Paint or fill all smokestacks in with black color. 14. To finish your city scene, fill or paint the oval at the top of the tallest building a red color.
Note: Now is the time to turn the background transparent if you choose to and if you have this option. Copy your city scene as a new image, and use your transparent feature to turn the background transparent. If you do not want to transparent the background of your city, copy and save this image to your hard drive. 3. You may also copy your city scene again as an individual image and add a drop shadow to your city. If you do add a drop shadow, save the drop shadowed image to your hard drive, using a different name for the drop shadowed image. Example, my finished city scene has been named city8.gif, and my drop shadowed city has been named city11.gif.
Create a Night City Scene Draw another city scene, adding windows and smokestacks, etc., or use your city scene to recolor as a night scene. 1. Using the fill tool (paint bucket) or your pencil or brush, choose a bright yellow and fill all your windows with the yellow color.
2. Use black to fill or color the buildings and doors black.
