With all the colors of the rainbow available to you how do you pick what color to wear or what color to paint your office or what color palette to use in your next design or craft project? The information below will give you important clues to guide you in your color choices.

RED

Red is the warmest of all colors and is the color most chosen by extroverts and one of the top picks of males. On the negative side red can mean temper or anger. Red is also the color of passion and lust - red roses symbolize passionate love Red is Tuesday's color and is the color of Mars, the planet known as the God of War.

If you wear red, you are energetic and impulsive. You are competitive, ambitious and like to be the center of attention. Red is symbolic of leadership qualities and courage. Wear a red accent piece when you want to present yourself as bold and dynamic. It can boost your confidence if you are attending a function or interview where you feel unsure of yourself.

PINK

Pink is the color of universal love. Pink is a quiet color, lovers of beauty favor pink. A pink carnation means "I will never forget you".

If you wear pink, you have an affectionate and loving nature. Pink is symbolic of understanding and sympathy. Wear pink when you want to present yourself as a peaceful, calm person who is not threatening. The softer shades are very feminine and darker shades will alleviate feelings of friction.

ORANGE

Orange is a power color and is one of the healing colors. It is said to increase the craving for food. It also stimulates enthusiasm and creativity and means vitality with endurance. People who like orange are usually thoughtful and sincere. An old "folk tale" once said that if a change of any kind is need in life, just burn an orange candle for 7 nights. I make no promises that it works!

If you wear orange, you are action oriented and competent. Wearing orange during times of stress, or shock can help to balance your emotions. It can bring about the willingness to embrace new ideas with enjoyment and a sense of exploration and creative play.

YELLOW

Pure, bright and sunny yellow is the easiest color to see. People who are blind to other colors can usually see yellow. Yellow is full of creative and intellectual energy. Yellow symbolizes wisdom and means joy and happiness. Yellow daffodils are a symbol of unrequited love and Sunday's color is yellow-gold.

Wear yellow to present a cheery, uplifting effect. Use it around your office to help keep a clear your mind, and improve memory and decision making.

GREEN

Green is the color of nature, fertility, life. Green symbolizes self-respect and well being and is the color of balance. It also means learning, growth and harmony. Green is a safe color, if you don't know what color to use anywhere use green. It was once believed that green was healing for the eyes and Egyptians wore green eyeliner. You should eat raw green foods for good health and Friday is the day of green.

If you wear green, you are benevolent and service-oriented. Wear green when you want to overcome a sense of thwarted ambition and it us the color of healthy relationships.

BLUE

Blue gives a feeling of distance which is why artists use it to to show perspective. This is a good way to understand the energy of the color blue - it allows us to look beyond and increase our perspective outward. It contains a cool vibration that is helpful to communication. Using blue to relax will encourage feelings of communication and peace.

Wear dark blues for a stable, calm conservative feeling. All shades of blue will help to make easy communication, whether it is with yourself or others. Use blue paper for notes when you want help in remembering a speech or other information.

INDIGO

Indigo is the color of the deep midnight sky. It can have a negative effect when used during a depressed state, because it will deepen the mood. While blue is the color of communication with others, indigo turns the blue inward, to increase personal thought, profound insights, and instant understandings. While blue can be fast, Indigo is almost instantaneous. Inventors use indigo skills for inspirations that seem to 'come out of the blue'.

If you wear indigo, you have deep feelings. You are intelligent and self-reliant. You are willing to take responsibility and make decisions. You may need to surround yourself with peace and affection to avoid depression - you need to play! Dark blue is a serious color often chosen for the military and corporate business.

BROWN

People who prefer brown are often conventional and orderly. The negative meaning of brown can be a repressed personality or a lazy person. Brown is the color of the earth and is associated with the material side of life.

Wear brown clothing if you want to show no direction or attitude in particular. Brown is a disguise that can be used to effectively hide your true nature. Prior to the introduction of denim, brown was the color worn by manual workers.

WHITE

White is the color of purity. Brides wear white in many countries, because white symbolizes a virgin. White means kindness. In some cultures white is worn at funerals. White is Monday's color and white daisies are a symbol of loyal love.

If you wear white, you have a well-balanced, positive personality. White symbolizes a blank page, a new start, a time or lifetime in which all things are possible. Wear white to impart a pure, wholesome impression. Surround yourself with white if you want to refresh your mind.

BLACK

Black is the most misunderstood color. A black tie dinner is very formal and elegant and women wear that "must have little black dress" to the black tie dinner. Yet the bad guys wear black hats. Black symbolizes death in some cultures. Native Americans thought black was good because it was the color of soil, which gives life. Saturday's color is black.

If you wear black, you are disciplined and strong-willed. You may be stubborn and inflexible. Dress in black if you want to become inconspicuous. Black is also used in clothing to make a bold statement of mystery and self control. Black clothing can say "Notice me but do not intrude."

GRAY

Gray is the color of sorrow. People who favor gray can be the lone wolf type or narrow-minded. Native Americans associate gray with friendship. Gray is the symbol for security, maturity and dependability. It connotes responsibility and conservative practicality.

If you wear gray, you are a very self-sufficient individual. You may stay aloof from others and have excellent self-control but you need rest and relaxation to avoid a build up of stress.
