Clip Art
Clip art is a word that describes any image, graphic, picture, photograph, or illustration used in publication, print, desktop
publishing, scrapbooking, advertising, or in any other
project that uses images.
Cartoons, linebars or dividers, bullets, titles, borders or corners, frames, photographs, photo clips, photo objects, backgrounds, and other visual images in various sizes, shapes, colors, and topics can all be referred to as clip art.
Web Clip Art
Web clip art describes any image, graphic, background, icon, divider, photo object, photo clip art, photo art, photo clip, or
other image that has been created especially for use on Web pages. In most cases the Web clip art is created in .gif format and the photographs have been cropped or resized in .jpg format. Many of these images are also used in other publications, including newsletters, craft projects and desktop publishing projects. Keep in mind that there are other formats that would be more suited to desktop publishing, commercial projects and newsletters than the .gif format that is used on Web pages.
Animated Clip Art
Animated clip art is clip art that moves and may be an image, a linebar, a bullet, button, or even a Web page background and is specifically created for use on Web pages or for any program that can
see and show movement, such as certain email programs. Animated clip
art is downloaded the same way you would download any non-moving or
static clip art, photo, or image.
